About Me

I am an active attorney located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. My practice focuses on family law and I have a passion for working with low-income and underrepresented communities.

I currently serve as a Custody Hearing Officer for the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas. Custody Hearing Officers are lawyers appointed by the Court to conciliate custody matters and conduct hearings in certain custody matter.

Before becoming a Custody Hearing Officer, I worked in a variety of roles throughout the Family Division. Most recently, I clerked for the Honorable Hugh F. McGough. In that role, I drafted orders and appellate opinions, prepared legal research memos for upcoming hearings, and advised on daily proceedings. I also oversaw the Judge’s summer internship program.

I have also worked with the Allegheny County Office of Conflict Counsel Dependency Division as an attorney and Guardian Ad Litem. In this role I helped guide juvenile clients through the dependency system from shelter hearings to case closure. This included attending monthly permanency review hearings and systems meetings with the Office of Children, Youth, and Families and other service providers. I also worked to ensure that my client’s voice was heard throughout the court process.

I was also incredibly fortunate to work as a Staff Attorney with the Women’s Center and Shelter Civil Law Project. The Civil Law Project is the legal representation arm of the Women’s Center and Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh and it works to provide survivors with justice, autonomy, restoration, and safety. As part of the Civil Law Project I carried a diverse and demanding caseload that included working with members of Pittsburgh’s immigrant community.

Prior to relocating to Pittsburgh I worked in the domestic section at Pyfer, Reese, Straub, Gray and Farhat, PC, in Lancaster, PA. At Pyfer Reese I managed a full caseload of custody and divorce clients as part of a team of multiple attorneys and support staff. I handled initial client interviews, drafted complaints, and argued in family business court, at custody conferences, and in custody hearings.

Some of the most rewarding work that I’ve done has been with immigrants seeking asylum through the Pennsylvania Immigration Resource Center’s Pro Bono Program. As an attorney for asylum seekers I drafted motions, wrote briefs, and appeared before the Immigration Court in York for asylum hearings. My work with asylum seekers has been challenging yet incredibly fulfilling; it continues to be a driving force behind my focus on public interest law.
